Two London men were arrested within minutes of a burglary in Hemel Hempstead, before being charged with the offence.
Officers were "immediately dispatched" to Grasmere Close after a break-in was reported at 7pm last Tuesday (January 2).
In the meantime, a second call was made, reporting that unknown males had been spotted in a nearby garden.
Two people - Christopher Green, 41, and Gerrard Cash, 25 - were subsequently detained on Crossfell Road, and taken into custody.
Jewellery items were recovered and were confirmed to belong to the victim of the burglary.
Both men have now been charged with burglary, with Green also charged with possession of a controlled class B drug (cannabis).
The men appeared at Hatfield Magistrates' Court on Thursday, January 4, where they were remanded into custody.
