A 50-year-old woman has been hospitalised following a crash on the M1, near St Albans and Hemel Hempstead.
The incident took place at around 5.43pm yesterday (Sunday, January 7) when a vehicle left the motorway between Junctions 8 and 9.
All lanes were closed in both directions while emergency services, including an air ambulance, dealt with the incident.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area as the 50-year-old woman from Hertford was taken to hospital with injuries described as "non-life threatening".

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "Police were called at around 5.43pm yesterday (Sunday, January 7) to report that a vehicle had driven off the M1 carriageway between junctions 8 and 9.
"All lanes were closed while the emergency services including police, fire and air ambulance dealt with the incident.
"A 50-year-old woman from Hertford was taken to hospital by paramedics with non-life changing injuries."
