The vandalism of Christmas decorations in St Albans has left a live electrical cable exposed.

At around 8.45pm on Friday (December 15), a "group of youths" pulled a Santa light from the front of a property on the south side of Cambridge Road, between College Road and Ely Road.

This left a live electrical cable exposed within the property, which - according to police - "could have led to a fire or to the residents receiving an electric shock".

The Father Christmas decoration was left on the roof of a car nearby, with the suspects believed to have left the scene via College Road.

Hertfordshire police have since appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
