Vintage furniture store and upholstery studio 'A Fold of Chairs' has opened its doors in St Albans.
Having set up the business online four years ago, Caroline Hoggarth opened her first physical shop earlier this month at 3b London Road.
The store offers a collection of furniture, art and ceramics from the 20th century, as well as the opportunity for customers to observe the furniture restoration and upholstery.
Caroline commented: “It has been quite a journey to set up shop, but we wanted to find the space, not only to sell our products, but to have a creative place for people to pop in and to see the process of how we work.
“If you’re buying a piece of furniture, it’s important to be able to sit in it and get an idea of its size and feel.”

Sustainability will be central to A Fold of Chairs ethos, along with ensuring that products have a long life and can be restored again in the future.
Caroline added: “We now live in a world where we need to think about the sustainability of our furniture, and here at A Fold of Chairs we are striving to ensure that our pieces won’t cost the earth – in any sense - pocket or planet.
“Every piece has a story - a life behind it and a life ahead of it, and it’s a privilege to be a part of that journey.”
