Five bedrooms, an en-suite and a boundary wall are included in plans for a new St Albans home, which could be constructed following the demolition of an existing property,
An application submitted to St Albans City & District Council's planning committee on November 6 would see 71 Jennings Road replaced with a new development.
The new five-bedroom home would feature three bedrooms on the first floor, and two "at loft level".
The driveway would be altered to allow for two car-parking spaces, and an entrance hall, snug, and a formal sitting room with a new fireplace would all be featured on the ground floor.
A design and access statement attached to the application reads: "The new development will be more sustainable; meeting high energy efficiency requirements of new builds, future proofing the property for the long term.
"The new dwelling makes the most of the opportunities which exist on site; detailing a beautiful home which meets the needs of a modern family."
On the design fitting in with other properties on the road, the statement continues: "The proposal aims to develop a new property that will enhance and create a modern family home that promotes better living, while remaining sensitive to the character, form, scale and material palette of the original house and the neighbouring context in which it sits.
"The new development is in-line with similar properties on Jennings Road and we have ensured that the proposal is appropriate to the surrounding area, whilst meeting the criteria set out by St. Albans.
SUGGESTED READING
"The proposal will upgrade and improve the quality, practicality, amenity, energy and appearance of the property through considered design, careful detailing and the use of high-quality building materials.
"By improving light, energy and functionality of the house, the design will transform the property into a sustainable and suitable family home."
No objections to the application have yet been made.
