St Albans: Abbey Theatre TEDx event 'a resounding success'

The event took place in the city's Abbey Theatre, from 9am until 5pm on Thursday (October 26), when no less than 14 speakers gave their thoughts on a range of topics.

TEDx is an offshoot of TED, an organisation which began in 1984 as a conference focussed on technology, entertainment and design.

Now TED Talks are increasingly popular, with industry professionals giving expertly crafted talks on a range of subjects.

TEDx events allow TED-like presentations to be made by a range of speakers to the local community.

The St Albans event was hosted by the BBC's Martine Croxall, and covered subjects such as  AI, women and business, loneliness and youth homelessness.

Cheryl Luzet, co-organiser of TEDx St Albans, said:  “We are delighted that the first St Albans TEDx event was such a resounding success.  

"As well as our 14 speakers who shared their stories across a variety of topics in an engaging and insightful way, we also hosted a lunchtime panel discussion on the topic of loneliness.
