Let's Play at Bernards Heath, a charity dedicated to creating a new playground in St Albans, has revealed the approved designs for the 2024 build and is making one final plea for donations.
The charity needs to raise £7,000 to realise the designs at the heath. These further funds would ensure the inclusion of all the items of equipment included in the £100,000 design.
St Albans District Council and Let’s Play have chosen a design which they believe relates to both young and older children, is in keeping with the Heath’s leafy surroundings and scores highly on inclusivity.
The design incorporates requests from across the community, including those of children attending nearby schools, and the most sought-after pieces of equipment are all featured.
To raise funds, this summer the charity launched a popular "Buy-A-Brick" campaign – offering the opportunity to donate in return for a professionally engraved paving brick at the new playground’s entrance .
Let’s Play has now extended the deadline to November 5 to help raise the final £7,000.

Chairman David Pearce said: “With one last push, we’ll be able to buy all of the equipment featured in the brilliant design.
"This is a once-in-a-generation project and we’re so close to the final target. Every extra brick bought will make a huge difference and help ensure we can buy every piece of equipment in the design and make this community playground the best it can be.
"All additional money raised will go towards supplementary equipment and upgraded items.
“Be quick and buy your brick!”
Organisations, clubs, and businesses are also welcome to ‘Buy-a-Brick’, and the charity invites them to consider having their logo displayed on one of the two remaining spaces on the Benefactors’ Board at the playground’s entrance.
