Emergency services have been called to St Albans city centre after a Smart car caught fire this afternoon.
The incident took place at around 1.25pm this afternoon (Wednesday, August 9), when a Smart Roadster became "well alight" in Verulam Road.
One fire engine from St Albans fire station was sent to the scene and the blaze was extinguished by 1.50pm.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at 1.25pm this afternoon to reports of a car on fire in Verulam Road, St Albans.

"One fire engine from St Albans fire station was sent to the scene, where the crew found one vehicle well alight on the road.
"Firefighters extinguished the fire with foam, and the fire was out by 1.50pm."
