Grassroots sports facilities are set to be transformed in the St Albans constituency after local organisations were awarded more than £20,000 in funding.
The government recently announced grants worth £68 million to be spent on creating and improving more than 1,700 sports facilities across the UK.
In St Albans, the biggest benificiary of this is set to be Harvesters FC. They have been awarded three grants, totalling £11,762, to spend on pitch maintenance equipment.
The other grants in St Albans are as follows:
- £5,700 towards goalposts at Beaumont School
- £1,885 towards portable floodlights at Aboyne Lodge School playing field
- £1,080 towards goalposts at Tornado Junior Sports Club
In the neighbouring Hitchin & Harpenden constituency, more than £720,000 has been awarded as part of the same government programme.
