Pupils at Katherine Warington School in Harpenden "roared the house down" with their performance of Shrek the Musical.
More than 100 pupils took part in the production, which ran for three sell-out nights in the school theatre.
The performance featured pupils from Year 7 to Year 10 on stage, in the live band and forming the back stage and tech crew - and the audience praised the talent on display for such a relatively young cast.
James Bullock, the school's director of performing arts, said: "It’s incredible to think that a school which has only been open for four years is able to stage such a professional show with such talented actors, singers and musicians.
"As a school we can’t wait to see what the future holds especially with our plans for performing arts in our new sixth form which opens next year."
The school is already planning its next musical, which starts auditions after half term.
