In the mood for a tasty burger this weekend? We've got you covered, with seven of the best of the best burger spots in Hertfordshire.

1. Cafe 77 - Hitchin

We should probably start with a burger that James Greatorex, head chef at fine french cuisine restaurant L’Ortolan, called "the best he'd ever eaten".

Cafe 77 started out 13 years in Codicote, operating from a shipping container converted into a kitchen, but in October 2021, they got a permanent site in Hitchin's Bancroft, and haven't looked back since.

Using locally sourced ingredients from Hertfordshire, they serve up classic style burgers with a tasty twist, as well as hot dogs and range of scrumptous sides.

You simply must go and check out Cafe 77.

2. Cawsburger - Hitchin

Nestled in the shadow of St Mary's Church is a burger restaurant that open only last summer, but is already taking Hitchin by storm.

Cawsburger's fully-loaded beef and chicken burgers taste just as good as they look, and they aren't enough to fill you up, there's fries stacked with sauce and toppings to choose for too.

If you haven't been to check them out already, then what are you doing?

3. Bun Lovin' Criminals at The Vic - Hitchin

Fancy a great burger in the pub? The Victoria in Hitchin is just the place for you.

Their spacious garden is the perfect spot to enjoy a pint, sublime food and quality time with friends.

Being a regular at The Vic myself, their BCN Triple and Vic Mac are personal favourites, while the Honey Bacon Chicken Tenders, Scoody Snack halloumi bites and cajun fries are the perfect accompaniment.

The only problem? Choosing between Bun Lovin's Criminals and Dirty Dough Pizza Co., who also call The Vic home.

4. The Meating Room - Harpenden and St Albans

If you fancy a burger in Harpenden or St Albans you can't look much further than The Meating Room.

Using patties freshly pressed every single day, they also have chicken and vegetarian burgers on offer, as well as a great range of sides.

Why not go and try them out this weekend.

5. Craft and Cleaver - St Albans

Craft and Cleaver may have a small burger selection, and plenty of other food on offer, but they look absolutely amazing.

The restaurant uses the finest wagyu beef for the patties, and they are loaded up with sauce, pickles and cheese for a top-tier meal.

Get yourself down there!

6. Hatch - St Albans

Hatch have a great range of juicy burgers, but you've got to be there at the right time to get your hands on them.

The restaurant is best known for their breakfast offerings, but from 6pm to 9pm on Friday and Saturday, they put on Burger Night.

And my word, do they look great!

7. Relish Real Burgers - Potters Bar

Mario, Elena, Peter and Anna had been running a restaurant since 1999, when in 2014 they decided to try a new challenge, creating the best burger.

They've certainly risen to that challenge, crafting burgers with influences from all over the world, including Greece and Mexico.

There's plenty of options too, so if you're not quite sure what you want, then Relish a good spot.
