Twenty vehicles have been seized and four people have been arrested following a cross-border operation between Hertfordshire's Special Constabulary, Hertsmere's 'Scorpion' team and the Metropolitan Police.

The operation took place in the Stirling Corner area of Barnet on Saturday, April 15, with the aim of deterring travelling criminals.

Sixteen volunteer Special Constables and nine officers from the Scorpion team joined officers from the Metropolitan Police.

A helicopter was also provided by the National Police Air Service (NPAS).

In total, 20 vehicles were seized for having no insurance and otherwise driving in accordance with a licence.

Four people were arrested for various offences, including drug-driving.

One individual had been wanted by police since 2020.

Fifty-nine Traffic Offence Reports (TORS) were issued for various Road Traffic Act offences.

Three positive stop and searches took place, and two community resolution disposals for possession of cannabis.

Special Sergeant Alex Whittle said: "We teamed up with the Met for a similar operation in February and it had successful results.

"We promised that more operations would take place and so I hope the public are pleased to see that we’ve been back out again, targeting criminals who use to the road network to travel to the location of their crimes.

“This second operation has seen more dangerous vehicles off our roads and more suspected criminals apprehended.

"As a volunteer police officer, it’s a great feeling to know you have made a difference to the local community and made people safer.”
