With the coronation of King Charles III just around the corner, residents across St Albans are preparing for the big day.

Parties, screenings and activities are being organised, along with the all-important coronation quiches.

Here's just come of the events being organised in the city.

1. St Albans Cathedral - coronation screening

St Albans Cathedral will be holding a screening of the coronation from 10am on Saturday (May 6).

A bring-your-own lunch and cash bar will also be on offer on the day.

On Sunday (May 7), a morning service with special prayers for the coronation will take place.

2. Greenwood Park - coronation festival

Between 3pm and 10pm on Saturday, a coronation festival is set for Greenwood Park.

The festival has been organised by St Stephen Parish Council and promises live music, a screen showing highlights of the coronation and a firework finale.

Elvis Shmelvis will be hosting the event, with childrens' activities and food and drink available.

3. Ye Olde Fighting Cocks - coronation jazz

'Britain's oldest pub' promises a sophisticated afternoon of jazz on Saturday. 

The event includes live music from Allen Beechey's Bright Stars of Jazz.

Martin Robinson, co-owner of Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, said: "We look forward to a bank holiday weekend of partying with friends and family."

4. St Albans BID - 'The King's Wardrobe' trail

A free story trail featuring augmented reality is on offer across St Albans city centre.

The story will see items of clothing suggested to the King ahead of his coronation, with 10 of the King's friends to find.

The trail will run until May 14, and requires participants to scan QR codes with their phones to join in.

5. St Albans Museum & Gallery - 'Create Your Own Crown'

A 'Create Your Own Coronation Crown' event will be hosted by St Albans Museum & Gallery, from 11am until 5pm on Saturday.

The museum will also be lit up in coronation colours until Wednesday, May 10.

Coronation-style food will also be sold at the location's café.
