St Albans Sustainability Festival Festival is set to return for its eighth year.

'SustFest' - organised by charity Sustainable St Albans - will return to the city between Saturday, June 10, and Sunday, June 18.

For the first time, the festival will now be part of 'Great Big Green Week'; a national programme of sustainability festivals promoted by the Climate Coalition.

Businesses, groups and schools can register events and activities for the event, via Sustainable St Albans' website www.sustainablestalbans.org.

A number of 'Creative Ideas' sessions are being held prior to the festival, for those searching for inspiration.

Jill Watson, the trustee of the festival working group, said: “These sessions are a chance to exchange ideas; maybe find a partner group or venue to help host an event, and to get information on running your own event.

"We know that even small events take a lot of thought and planning, so we’re encouraging any interested parties to come along.”

Fix-it sessions, clothes swaps, open gardens and music nights have already been arranged for the festival.

A spokesperson for the festival said: "The only requirement is that the event is aimed at making the community more sustainable.

"An event doesn't even have to be open to the public.

"All are welcome to take part in SustFest even if it's just a few friends getting together for a litter pick."

The Sustainability Festival's registration period will remain open until Wednesday, May 10.
