The Harpenden-based Hardynge Choir will pay tribute to French composers working in Paris in the early part of the 20th century with their next concert.

Parisian composers of that era knew one another, and influenced or performed each other's work.

The concert will take place at High Street Methodist Church in Harpenden at 7.30pm on Saturday, March 25.

Lili Boulanger's Hymne au Soleil will open the concert, followed by Francis Poulenc's popular and joyful Organ Concerto with soloist Richard Hills.

This will be followed by a moment of pastoral idyll with Gabriel Fauré's Pavanne, finishing with Maurice Duruflé's Requiem.

The choir will be joined by mezzo-soprano Jennifer Statham, baritone John Holland-Avery, and the Paean Ensemble - all conducted by musical director Rufus Frowde.
