Harpenden Choral Society will perform two "powerful and inspiring" pieces of classical music at their upcoming concert.
The society will perform Fauré's Requiem, which has remained hugely popular because of its simple message of faith and the beauty of its melodies.
They will then perform Vaughan Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem - a work which is described as "at times anguished, at others serene, but which is ultimately a plea for peace".
The concert, which takes place on Saturday, March 18 at High Street Methodist Church, will be conducted by the choir's musical director John Andrews, and will feature professional soloists: soprano Alison Langer and baritone Edward Grint.
The singers will be accompanied by The King's Sinfonietta Orchestra, with pianist and organist Richard Gowers.
Harpenden Choral Society was formed in 1975, and sings work from all periods to audiences in Harpenden and the surrounding area.
There are currently around 75 members, and plans for this season include a concert of Brahms and Rheinburger in June.
Tickets to the March concert are £17 for adults and £7 for children and students.
