A Harpenden couple has revealed their secret to 60 years of marriage after celebrating their Diamond anniversary this year.
Robin, 85, who lives at Field House Bupa Care Home, celebrated six decades with wife Zena, 83, after the couple met in the West Midlands in the early 1960s.
Meeting through work in Birmingham, Zena took a job at the firm where Robin was a partner, and although her new role meant a commute of three bus rides, things were meant to be for the pair.
They began courting in 1960, with Zena explaining: "We always knew that we were right for each other, even during our early days of courting.
"Robin used to show a lot of interest in me when we worked together, and always arranged very sweet surprises for me."
One of those surprises came on Zena's 21st birthday, when she received a mysterious bunch of flowers, signed "An Ardent Yorkist Admirer". Of course, it was Robin, who was working in York at the time.

"That was my first hint that our relationship was going to be very special," Zena said.
"I could tell he was very thoughtful and generous. Throughout our marriage, we both knew how very lucky we were to find this special bond."
Revealing the secrets behind their enduring marriage, Robin admitted: "Each person in that relationship needs to realise the importance of love, care, respect, compassion and tolerance for each other."
"I feel extremely lucky to have found such a caring, kind, loving and supportive husband and to have shared so many happy years together," Zena continued.

"We have been blessed with a supportive family of three children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
"Raising a family comes with its trials, but it’s important to always work through the challenges together and support each other where you can."
April Parrott-Carter, home manager at Field House, said: "Robin and Zena are a wonderful inspiration to us all.
"Together they have raised a family, created a lifetime of memories, and still show endless love and adoration for each other despite no longer being able to live together."
