Westminster Lodge leisure centre has announced a record number of visits for January, following a £1 million refurbishment.
The centre on Holywell Hill, St Albans, saw 100,000 people use its facilities in the first month of 2023.

The sports centre's average attendance for months prior to January was 80,000.
A £1 million refurbishment to the gym, café and spinning class studios has since taken place.
Westminster Lodge's centre manager, Lesley Garner, said: "We are delighted with January’s figures for visits.
"It shows that things have got back to normal following the pandemic.

"But these figures are even higher than pre-pandemic times, so it looks as though people are prioritising their health and wellbeing more than ever before – and sticking to their New Year’s Resolutions - maybe as a result of the national concern about health that the Covid crisis generated.
"We also think that it is a huge vote of confidence in the improvements that we’ve made to the centre, and that people have loved what we have done in creating a state-of-the-art gym and facilities for local people.
"Due to the demand, we’ve had to add extra classes to the group exercise timetable, to the virtual classes in the Cycle studio and also additional swim classes.
"This is all great news for our community’s health!"
