A bus used for collecting members of a Herts learning disability group, Purple All-Stars, has been stolen in London Colney.
Kate Harding, the creative practitioner with Hertfordshire County Council who runs group, was left appalled that someone would steal from a group of people with learning disabilities.
The bus is a dark blue Peugeot Boxer, with a registered number plate WA68 BDZ. It was reportedly stolen on Wednesday, January 11, from a car park in London Colney.
The bus was used by a collection of people from The Purple All-Star group, allowing them to access services and activities.
Purple All-Stars uses performing arts to deliver health and inclusion messages at events and trainings across the county.
Kate said: “We used this bus regularly and the loss of the bus means we will not be able attend some of our scheduled performances without a huge amount of support.
“The loss of this bus will have a huge impact on the health and wellbeing of The Purple All-Stars as changes will have to be made to accommodate the new transport issue.
“I personally am appalled that someone would steal from a group of people with learning disabilities. Our signage was all over the side of the bus in the form of white stickers. It was quite clear who used it.”
The group is hopeful that its Facebook campaign, #FindOurBus, and support from the community will help spot the bus.
Regardless of the loss of the bus, the group looks forward to performing at the Stevenage Mayor's show in February, and their second appearance at a Stevenage FC football match.
A spokesperson from the Hertfordshire Constubulary said: "Police were called at around 2.07pm on January 11 to report a stolen vehicle from the Cotlandswick Leisure Centre car park in London Colney.
"The vehicle, belonging to a charity, was last seen parked in the car park at around 4.30pm the previous day (Tuesday 10 January).
"The minibus is described as dark blue with three logos on it."
Enquiries are continuing at this time and anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting ISR 389 of 11 January."
