A person has died after being hit by a train between St Albans City and London St Pancras.
At around 6.22am today (Wednesday, August 17), police officers and paramedics were called to Elstree and Borehamwood station with reports of an incident.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Elstree and Borehamwood at 6.22am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however, sadly, a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Thameslink and EMR run trains through Elstree and Borehamwood on the line between London St Pancras, St Albans and Bedford.
At 6.45am, a Thameslink spokesperson said: "It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between St Albans City and West Hampstead Thameslink."
All lines were blocked while emergency crews dealt with the incident.
Rail services resumed at 6.55am.
