Royston Photographic Society is celebrating its latest competition winners as it reaches the end of its regular season.
The final competition before the summer break was an 'open' contest, with the judge assessing work on a wide variety of subjects.
In first place was Peter Baker's 'Enhancing the Courtald Stairs', which was taken on a trip to the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.
Peter said that the museum is "very welcoming to photographers", and has a "host of great spots" to photograph.
Martin Johnson's 'Male Common Blue Butterfly on Seedhead' - which was taken on Therfield Heath - came in second place.
The picture was praised for its 'breath-taking sharpness' in isolating the main subject from the soft background.
Third place went to Jim Cromwell with 'RIP', a gritty urban scene with many links between the graffiti and the fallen bikes.
One of the society's newest members, Ken Lamb, was also commended by the judges for his first competition entry, a picture of a reenactor carrying out maintenance on a Spitfire at Imperial War Museum Duxford.
Although the official season has ended, club activity will continue throughout the summer.
The society's landscape group has summer outings booked, following a recent trip to Wrest Park.
Their next trip is to Fowlmere Nature Reserve, with parties intended to be there throughout the day to observe how the light changes at different times.
Also on the agenda for the summer programme are trips to Snetterton for the motorcycle racing, a revisit to BMX action in Royston and trips into London for street and architectural pictures.

Anyone who is interested in taking part can contact chairman Peter Andrew on peter.d.andrew@ntlworld.com, who can help arrange a taste of club life.
Meanwhile, society members have had success in external events, with Bob Coote gaining an EPAGB award for excellence from the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, and Peter Baker achieving a DPAGB award for distinction, along with other members' work featuring in both regional and national exhibitions.
Regular club nights will return at 7.45pm on Thursdays at Icknield Walk First School, once term starts again in September.
