Voters in Welwyn Hatfield will head to the polls today to cast their votes in an all out election - but what did the council look like ahead of the vote?

Last year, the Conservative party lost overall control of the council and a joint administration between the Labour and Liberal Democrat parties was formed.

At the moment, Liberal Democrat Cllr Paul Zukowskyj is at the helm of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.

What is the council make up now?

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is currently made up of 48 councillors across 16 wards across the towns and villages in the borough.

Since last year's local election, which saw just a third of seats up for the polls, there have been 22 Conservative councillors, 14 Liberal Democrat and 12 Labour.

Today's vote

One third of all the council seats are up for election today, with one out of three in each ward up for grabs.
