Popular newspaper The Times has named six St Albans primary schools among the best in the UK.
The paper's list of the best 500 primary schools in the country saw the Abbey CE VA Primary School emerge as the top-rated institution in the city.
The Abbey Primary School was ranked at 171st on the list, followed by Killigrew Primary and Nursery School at 198.
Maple Primary School sits at 204 while Skyswood Primary & Nursery School was ranked at 222nd, and Oakwood at 297th.
Lastly, Aboyne Lodge made the list, at rank 429.
Each school was given an English, grammar and maths score to determine their ranking.
Upon being ranked as the best primary school in St Albans, a spokesperson for The Abbey Primary School said: "The Abbey CE VA School offers children an amazing environment and lots of space to play outside.

"It also creates a special experience for families with its community events and fundraisers.
"The school suffered greatly with admissions after COVID-19 and with the changing times of the uptake in the church congregations, however their new head teacher has turned it around whilst still keeping the schools original values.
"The school has achieved such wonderful things recently."
