The headteacher of a St Albans school has retired after 22 years in the job.
A mass was held at St Albans Cathedral on Monday, March 20, to celebrate Mrs Máire Lynch’s dedication to and service to education.
Mrs Lynch has been described as "a remarkable person, who has led with great fortitude and integrity".

Mrs Lucy Thompson will now undertake the role of Loreto College's headteacher, having joined from La Retraite Roman Catholic Girls' School in the Clapham Park area of Lambeth, London.
A spokesperson for Loreto College said: "This academic year began with Loreto College celebrating its centenary at Westminster Cathedral, and it has recently marked another momentous event: after 22-years as its headteacher, Mrs Máire Lynch has retired.

"Loreto College occupies a significant place in the heart of the city, and both its site and staff have naturally undergone many changes over the years with one major exception; Mrs Lynch, who has been at the helm for nearly a quarter of its life.
"A remarkable person, who has led with great fortitude and integrity, whilst consistently upholding the school’s five core values – Freedom, Justice, Truth, Sincerity & Joy.
"On Monday, March 20, a beautiful mass was held at St Albans Cathedral to celebrate Mrs Lynch’s dedication and service to education, and in particular her time at Loreto College.
"She will be deeply missed, but never was a retirement more richly deserved. Mrs Lynch’s unwavering commitment to Loreto College, its foundress Mary Ward, and the IBVM, has paved the way for the next hundred years.
"The school now warmly welcomes Mrs Lucy Thompson, who comes from La Retraite, a Roman Catholic Girls’ School in Clapham Park."
