Two family-run businesses in St Albans and Cuffley have teamed up to offer quality meat to a new audience.
The Pickled Pig, a butcher in Cuffley, has opened a second counter at the Smallford Farm Shop near St Albans.
Steve Moroney opened The Pickled Pig on Station Road in 2018, and has been serving his community with high quality meat and fine foods from around the Mediterranean in the years since.
He had been looking to open a second store in the area and was considering possible locations when Emma Colletti, owner of Smallford Farm Shop, approached him to ask whether he would take over their butcher's counter.

Steve thought it sounded like the ideal place and jumped at the opportunity. The new counter opened in early November and has been taking plenty of Christmas orders already.
Steve said: "This exciting partnership is perfect for us to be able to extend our reach to a new audience in St Albans.
"Since launch, our range of premium steaks has been most popular, plus customers asking for best quality roast pork that makes amazing crackling, and we have our seasonal range ready for orders, including pheasant, turkey and rib of beef.
"Being in a bigger store space, surrounded by everything festive, from advent calendars, to handmade wreaths to party wines and spirits, we’re feeling the Christmas buzz already!"
Emma added: "We’re so pleased to have Steve and The Pickled Pig expert team here offering a fully stocked, eye-catching butcher’s counter again.
"We know our customers appreciate high quality meat, both to eat in our café and to take home for dinner.
"As a foodie family business ourselves, specialising in premium food items from local, small batch and artisan producers, we know our customers value having a butcher on site to enable them to discuss what they are looking for.
"We want to be known for supporting independent retail and we work closely with our partners to help tell their own product stories.
"We host regular themed tasting events when our customers really enjoy the opportunity to discover new products and meet the people behind our delicious brands."
